NATCHEZ — Three seniors on Cathedral High School’s varsity softball team signed letters of intent this week to continue their softball careers at the collegiate level.

Lady Green Wave head coach Craig Beesley said Liza Gregg signed with Millsaps College in Jackson as a catcher, Madelyn Fielder signed with East Central Community College in Decatur as an outfielder, and Lily Crum signed with Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson as a pitcher.

“It’s a great accomplishment for all three of them,” Beesley said. “It’s a great honor that three of them from one class will be playing at the next level. We’re excited for them to go on and compete at the college level.”

Beesley noted that all three of players had multiple offers from JUCO schools, but they committed to the above-mentioned schools before the season started.

“They knew where they were signing with back then,” Beesley said.

Crum was named to the MAIS Class 4A-5A-6A Fast-Pitch All-Star Team in 2024, was a two-time All-MAIS Selection, and also earned MAIS District 4-5A All-District Player of the Year honors.

Gregg and Fielder were named to the District 4-5A All-District First Team this past season. Crum also named the team’s Most Valuable Player while Gregg and Fielder were named the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Players.

Crum had an 18-6 record with 248 strikeouts over 151 innings pitched in 2024. For her career on the mound, she had 55 total wins and 728 strikeouts. She also had 14 games with double-digit strikeouts.

Fielder had a .392 batting average and led the team in runs scored with 36 and stolen bases with 17. She tied for the team lead in base hits with 40. Gregg had a .380 batting average, led the team in runs batted in with 28 and was second in home runs with three.
