NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies are on the scene of a shooting at the Shell gas station and convenience store in Washington.

Sheriff Travis Patten said his deputies arrived to find one man dead inside the store and several terrified convenience store customers and staff members.

Patten said the suspected shooter is in custody. He would not name the deceased man or the suspect at this point in the investigation; however he said the victim was a white male.

Patten said E-911 dispatchers received a call reporting the shooting at 7:21 p.m.
