WASHINGTON, MS – Wilma Wilson McKeever, 84, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at Trinity Medical Center in Ferriday. Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, at Washington Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held starting at 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Ms. McKeever was born on Feb. 1, 1940, in Neshoba County, MS to Charlene Brewer Wilson and Woodrow Wilson.
She was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in education. After teaching elementary school in Maryland, she returned to the Miss-Lou area. She taught at Ferriday Elementary School for thirty years. She was honored to serve as president of the teacher’s union in Concordia Parish for several years.
Ms. McKeever was a longtime Elder at First Presbyterian Church in Vidalia. She attended Washington Baptist Church for a number of years before her death. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was known to her family as the “angel food cake aunt.” She claimed everyone’s dogs as her own, and enjoyed traveling, reading, and completing jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her two sisters, Judy W. Brown (Gordon) of Natchez and Nancy W. Fussell (Benja) of Lake St John, LA. She is also survived by nephew, Greg T. Brown (Shannon); nieces, Melissa A. Brown, Kate Fussell Balestra (Courtney Brown), and Abby Fussell. Survivors also include great-nieces, Mattie B. Bunch (George), Danielle Gingell (James), Erin Day (Corvan); great-nephews, Jake Brown (Emily), Luke Balestra, Beau Balestra, Cain Brown, Kohl Tillman, and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Tommy Glynn Wilson.
Services will be officiated by Whest Shirley and Rev. Carl Smith.
Pallbearers will be Greg T. Brown, Jake Brown, Luke Balestra, Beau Balestra, Cain Brown, Kohl Tillman, Marc Wallace, and Courtney Brown.
Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez. Arrangements have been coordinated through Marshall Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to the Adams County Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
