NATCHEZ — Those in the Miss Lou area Thursday morning might have noticed half a dozen hot air balloons flying to get a head start on Natchez Balloon Festival activities.

Six or more hot air balloonists prepared for takeoff around 7 a.m. Thursday at the soccer field near the Adams County Safe Room and then headed over the river into Concordia Parish.

This weekend holds promising weather for the Natchez Balloon Festival, which has flights scheduled in the early morning and afternoon as weather permits, plus a balloon glow Friday night on the festival grounds at Rosalie.
