NATCHEZ – There’s been a crime committed, a 300 carat pink diamond stolen, and Inspector Jacques Clouseau and the Pink Panther are on a mission to solve it.
They’ve “scoured the globe and narrowed down their suspects to three,” said Clouseau, played by Lynn Wentworth. “And they all live in Natchez.”
By dropping a donation into the suspects’ bucket to the American Cancer Society, attendees at tonight’s Natchez Festival of Music event, “An Evening With the Pink Panther” can help solve the mystery of “whodunnit,” Wentworth said.
Unfamiliar with Natchez, Wentworth has been out and about passing around pictures of the suspects to see if anyone may recognize them. One of them looks vaguely familiar, not unlike Mayor Dan Gibson himself.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the 100th anniversary of Henry Mancini’s birth, the Natchez Festival of Music will present An Evening with the Pink Panther starting at 7 p.m. tonight at the Natchez Civic Center.
This fundraiser supports the American Cancer Society’s Mississippi chapter. Mancini, a renowned American composer, is best known for “Moon River” and the Pink Panther theme. The event begins at 7 p.m. with the Sam Bruton Jazz Ensemble, featuring guest artists John Christopher Adams and Maryann Kyle. Tickets are $30 online or at the door, with proceeds going to the cause.
