The National Hurricane Center issued the first advisory for the tropical storm at 10 pm Wednesday. Tropical Storm Isaac is 1480 miles west of the Azores and 690 miles east-northeast of Bermuda, with maximum sustained wind of 50 mph. It’s moving 12 mph to the east.
“Some strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days and Isaac could be near hurricane intensity by the end of the week.” forecasters noted.
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND:
SURF: Swells generated by Isaac and a large wind fetch from a deep-layer trough are affecting portions of the coast of Bermuda and could spread into the Azores by this weekend. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
