VIDALIA, La. — Area law enforcement advised that an inmate who walked away from work release detail Friday morning in East Baton Rouge Parish has ties to and may possibly be heading to Vidalia.

“Daniel Maekeil Smith walked away from the East Baton Rouge Parish Work Release this morning. He has ties to the Vidalia area,” Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office shared on social media Friday morning.

Smith was born on Jan. 17, 1983, and is described as having brown eyes and a medium complexion.

“Please do not approach this individual,” the sheriff’s office warned. “Contact the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-336-5231 or call 911 if you have any information about the whereabouts of this individual.”

The message had been shared and relayed to other law enforcement agencies in the Miss-Lou.
