The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory at 7:34 a.m. on Thursday in effect until 7 p.m. The advisory is for Copiah, Simpson, Franklin, Lincoln, Lawrence, Jefferson Davis, Covington, Jones, Marion, Lamar and Forrest counties.
“Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts around 40 mph,” states the NWS. “As Tropical Depression Francine decays across the region, gusty winds will persist across central to northern Mississippi, with some gusty gradient winds on the western edge along and west of the Mississippi River.”
“Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” explains the NWS. “Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Secure outdoor objects.”
