Public hearings on Vidalia Aldermen’s agenda

VIDALIA, La. — Public hearings that pertain to the compensation of town officials and the town’s noise ordinance are on the agenda Tuesday for the Vidalia Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Vidalia Town Hall.
Proposed ordinance changes include amending ordinance No. 692 to fix the compensation of the municipal clerk and the compensation of the Board of Aldermen and amending ordinance No. 569 — which deals with noise control — to include the use of generators.
The Aldermen also plan to discuss the purchase of a new bucket truck for the Town of Vidalia Utility Department and discuss advertising bids on surplus vehicles.
Aldermen will also discuss allowing the Town of Ferriday to borrow two knuckle boom trucks to assist Ferriday with clean-up efforts.
Other matters on the agenda for the Town of Vidalia Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 13, include:
- Presentation of the town’s financial statement for July 2024.
- Board discussion and vote on approval of an occupational license application for MTW Inspections LLC — a home and building inspection agency — at 2049 Charles St. by Michael Weatherly.
- Board discussion and vote on approval of an outdoor sign application for Insurance America at 1700 Carter Street by Brent Smith.
- Board discussion and vote on approval for Vidalia Police Department to hire Roger D. McDonald Jr. as a full-time patrol officer.
- Board discussion on a tutoring program for Concord Youth.
- Board discussion and approval of a resolution for William T. Polk Park Fitness Court and Studio presented by Loran Scott.
- Board discussion and vote on approval to accept the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s environmental audit of the town wastewater treatment plant presented by Cornell Lewis.
