VIDALIA, La. — A woman who reportedly ran into a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy with her car on Saturday afternoon and tried to evade arrest in her vehicle now faces several charges, including battery and aggravated assault on officers.

Yesterday at approximately 3 p.m., CPSO received a 911 call from a female who stated she was being followed by another driver.

The caller stated she was being threatened and stalked by the person following her and she was afraid. The caller was advised to turn into the sheriff’s office parking lot in hopes that the person following her would not follow her into the parking lot. Instead, the driver later identified as 22-year-old Tre’Mesha Corey followed the caller and got out of her car and began beating on the caller’s car and screaming at the caller.

At this time, a CPSO jailer and deputy went into the parking lot to assist. Corey aggressively confronted the jailer and backed her vehicle into the deputy while being given commands to stop.

The deputy who was struck sustained a “slight knee injury” but is expected to be OK, according to CPSO public information director Brandy Spears.

Corey then fled the scene of the incident and was followed by CPSO Deputies for less than 10 minutes until she was detained by CPSO and the Vidalia Police Department at the Sprint Mart near Logan Sewell Road in Vidalia.
Sheriff David Hedrick said that it is his expectation that deputies make every effort to keep pursuits as safe as possible for the person being pursued, the deputies and all bystanders.
In this case, there was a deputy in front of and behind the car to keep speeds down when they were inside the city limits.

Corey has been charged by CPSO with battery of a correctional facility employee, aggravated assault on a peace officer, resisting a police officer with force or violence, resisting an officer/aggravated assault, aggravated flight from an officer, as well as red light and stop sign violations.
