George was born on Sunday, Aug. 22, 1943, in Akron, OH, and passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was a beloved member of Dunbarton Baptist Church and a dedicated Chairman of Ducks Unlimited. George’s big personality meant he never met a stranger, making friends wherever he went. An avid hunter and Mayor of Possum Bayou, he was deeply connected to the outdoors and the traditions of the land. For many years, George was affectionately known as the “meat man,” a testament to his skills as a butcher and his passion for cooking. His service as a deputy with the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office demonstrated his commitment to his community, where he was widely respected and admired. Known as Papa George, he will be remembered throughout Concordia Parish for putting smiles on many children’s faces. From bringing suckers to the local Elementary Schools, delivering care packages on Christmas, and leading the Huntington Hounds Football Team wherever they went. George was always willing to go above and beyond for anyone without expecting anything in return. His legacy of kindness, service, and love for the outdoors will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family, always putting their happiness and well-being first.
