VIDALIA, La. — A man who allegedly planted cameras in a bathroom to film juveniles without their knowledge has been arrested Wednesday.
Joshua Smith, 40, has been booked into the Concordia Parish Jail on 16 counts of pornography involving juveniles and 25 counts of video voyeurism.
On Aug. 9, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit began investigating a complaint of a hidden camera set up where multiple juveniles were being filmed in a bathroom, authorities said.
After interviewing the witness, detectives submitted search warrants to electronic service providers, which authenticated the videos and helped identify Smith as a suspect.
Upon being taken into custody yesterday, a search warrant was executed at his residence in Clayton, at which time an electronic device was seized that contained videos of child sexual abuse material.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone arrested is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
