FAYETTE – Funeral services for Daisie M. Swanson, 76, of Fayette, who died on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in Fayette, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home – Fayette Branch.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Daisie was born on April 7, 1948, in Natchez, the daughter of Vina Norton Swanson and James A. Swanson. She was a retired educator from the Orleans Parish Public School System and the Jefferson County School District. She was a member of the Star of Bethel Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary and as an usher.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Dorothy Swanson Washington and Georgia Swanson Mitchell.

Daisie leaves to cherish her loving memory: nieces, Tanya Mitchell Darensburg (Dwyane) and Traci Mitchell Austin (Roy); great-nieces, Laci Darensburg and Peyton Austin; great-nephews, Dwyane Darensburg, Jr., and Trey Austin; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
