NATCHEZ — Mississippi Highway Patrol officers have identified the suspect who led a Thursday morning pursuit along U.S. 61, Lower Woodville Road and Lincoln Heights Road in Adams County and fired shots at troopers during the pursuit.
This morning, at around 7:02 a.m., an MHP trooper initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 61 near York Road in Adams County on a 2017 White Ford Fiesta. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 33-year-old Hollis Louis Green from Natchez.
Green was just released from Mississippi Department of Corrections custody on Dec. 31, 2023, after his jail sentence expired from his previous conviction of grand larceny and escape, according to Adams County Sheriff’s Office records.
Green attempted to flee the scene and during the pursuit, discharged multiple rounds toward the pursuing trooper, said Corporal Craig James, Public Affairs Officer of MHP Troop M.
The trooper momentarily lost sight of the vehicle and then shortly after discovered the vehicle abandoned at a residence on Lincoln Heights Road in Adams County.
Following a thorough search in the area, troopers successfully located Green at approximately 9:38 a.m. Green was found in possession of a firearm and was taken into custody without further incident.
Green has been booked into the Adams County Jail and is facing several charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer, felony fleeing, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in addition to various misdemeanor violations.
“The Mississippi Highway Patrol extends its gratitude to all the troopers who quickly responded to this dangerous situation and their coordinated efforts to ensure the safe resolution of this incident,” James said, adding, “Further updates may be provided as the investigation continues.”
