NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Ethel Alean Baker, 91, of Baton Rouge, who died on Thursday, July 25, 2024, in Baton Rouge, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. at West Gate Funeral Home (George F. West Sr. Memorial Chapel) with Pastor Melvin White officiating.
Burial will follow at the Hutchins Family Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Ethel was born July 28, 1932, in Newellton, LA, the daughter of Ethel D’George and Charley Baker Sr. She received her Associate’s degree and was a retired nursing assistant. Ethel was a member of Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading the Bible, and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Curtis Graves; sisters, Fannie Parson, Margaret Milton, Maggie Thomas, Betsy Diggs, and Patricia Ann Baker; and brothers, Alvin Baker and Henry Baker.
Ethel leaves to cherish her memory: son, Albert L. Greene Sr. (Brenda); daughters, Mattie Greene Hutchins, Kathy Thornton, and Sherry Richardson; brother, Lawrence Baker; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
