Ann was born on Wednesday, March 21, 1934, in a country home on the north side of Little River near Jonesville, and passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Jonesville. She was a lifelong resident of the Jonesville community and a member of Utility Baptist Church. Ann worked at Catahoula-LaSalle Bank beginning in the 1950s and retired as an assistant vice president in 2003. She also served as the treasurer for the Ouachita Baptist Association for over twenty years. Over her 40 plus years in banking she had many customers who valued her service and discretion in handling their banking business. She was usually the first person anyone saw when they entered the bank from her window just to the right of the front door. You could always expect a smile and a friendly greeting when she saw you. Her coconut pies and pound cake were beloved by her church family, children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Ann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and prized those roles above all others in her life. She came from a family of eight children and her Daddy died when she was a little girl. The bond she had with her five sisters, two brothers, and her mother, Wowo who raised them all as a single mother in hard times was truly special and was a source of strength and comfort in difficult moments and joy when times were good. Ann was a loyal friend, gracious hostess, and had an eye for beauty whether it was found in the flowers in her yard or the good she saw in others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Rose Young; husband, Joe David “J.D.” Chevallier; husband, Eddie Patten Taylor; sister, Jean Furr Edwards; sister, Velda “Bell” Berry; brother, John Young; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Evans, and brother, David “Bud” Young.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons: David Roy Chevallier (Pamela) of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Steve Chevallier of Jonesville, and Mark Chevallier (Renee) of Dallas, TX; daughter, Dawn Chevallier of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Ashton Chevallier (Farran), Amber Duper (Maurice), Chase Chevallier (Sabrina), Michael Chevallier (Trish), Joshua Chevallier (Concetta), Elyse Chevallier, and Kate Noel; great-grandchildren, Axl, Ace, Juliana, Audrey, Emilia, and Cecilia; two sisters, Rosemary McGowen and Eva Lou “Fro” Davis; the family of her husband, Eddie P. Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Those honoring her as pallbearers will be Ashton Chevallier, Michael Chevallier, Joshua Chevallier, Matt Taylor, Maurice Duper, and Jeremy Wood.
The family asks that memorials be made to a cause of your choice that would honor her memory and suggest the following: Utility Baptist Church, the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or the Young Family Cemetery.
