NATCHEZ – Services for Stephanie Beth (Steph) Moody, 51, of Natchez who died on Monday, July 1, 2024, in Tupelo will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allison Moody officiating.

A graveside service will follow at Laurel Hill Plantation Cemetery, 1054 Lower Woodville Road under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 until 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Moody was born on Oct. 10, 1972, in Silver Springs, MD the daughter of Robert Allen Kaplan and Jan Ellen Garber Kaplan.

Stephanie was raised in North Brunswick, NJ. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stockton University of New Jersey. After college, she started a career in corporate sales and rose to become Executive Director of Sales for major newspapers in Daytona, FL; Cleveland, OH, and Philadelphia, PA. While in Philadelphia, she met her husband, Merrick Moody, of Natchez, MS. After the birth of their daughter, Emily Jane Moody (15), Steph became a homemaker and followed her husband’s career with the National Park Service. The couple lived and worked in numerous National Parks. They also had a son, Tristan Merrick Moody (12). She was a loving and devoted mother and wife.

She is survived by her husband, Merrick Moody, children, Emily and Tristan; mother, Jan Kaplan and brother, Matthew Kaplan both of New Jersey; mother-in-law, Kathy Moody of Natchez; mother-in-law, Judy Moody, of Virginia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law; Mary and Thomas Gardner and their two sons, William and James of Virginia, sister-in-law, Cara Moody, and nephew, Jackson Moody.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Gardner, Rodney Tassistro, Buck Marshall, Marshall Edmonds, Peirce Beach, Jeremiah Wheeler, Mitchell Edmonds.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to Steph’s favorite charity St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
