NATCHEZ — Visit Natchez has completed its move into the Depot on the Bluff and plans a grand opening soon.
Built in 1910, Natchez’s old historic train depot has been extensively refurbished to accommodate the town’s new Visitor Center, providing an engaging and immersive visitor experience. These renovations feature dedicated sections tailored to visitor interests, mirroring the structure of the Visit Natchez website. Embracing a vintage, industrial aesthetic, the Visit Natchez at the Depot Visitor Center pays homage to the “Golden Age of Railroads” and Natchez’s local history.
“We are thrilled to announce the opening of the newly renovated Visit Natchez at the Depot Visitor Center, a true example of our city’s dedication to preserving its rich history and enhancing its visitor experience,” said Lynsey Gilbert, interim director at Visit Natchez. “With final touches to the interiors and signage in the works, we are confident the new Visitor Center will capture the essence of Natchez’s unique charm and heritage.”
With a prime location at the end of Broadway Street, new amenities include public restrooms, vending machines, and a large-screen self-service information kiosk, ensuring convenience and comfort for all visitors. The Visitor Center will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
An exchanging of the keys ceremony took place on May 20 in honor of Travel and Tourism Week. A grand opening event is scheduled for later this summer.
