NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Rev. James Edward Beverly, 90, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in Natchez will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Beulah Baptist Church with Pastor Johnathan Hargrave officiating.
Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
There will be no public visitation.
Rev. Beverly was born on Feb. 7, 1934, in Natchez, the son of Annie Jones Conner and James Edward Beverly. He was educated in the Louisiana School System. He was a Pastor for over 60 years. In the late 1960s, he was a member of the Natchez Chapter of the NAACP and participated in the Civil Rights Movement. In his spare time, he loved to travel, read his Bible, watch westerns, and help people.
He is preceded in death by wives, Carlotta Bacon Beverly, Onia Bottley Beverly, and Deloris Robinson Beverly; son, Joseph Ray Beverly; daughter, Cassandra Louise Chatman; and grandchildren, Braxton Robinson and Roslyn Robinson.
Rev. Beverly leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, James Beverly III, Ronnie Conner (Jane), and Barrette Robinson; daughters, Yolander Davis, Brenda Beverly, Patricia Beverly, Katrina Jones, Angela Thomas, Cursandra Robinson, and Rotundria Robinson; brothers, George Conner, Jr. (Maxine), Larry Conner (Wanda), and Roosevelt Conner; sisters, Leola Collins (Everett), and Rosalie Handy (Willie); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
