Two killed in two-car crash near Jonesville

CATAHOULA PARISH, La. — A Jonesville man and a 5-year-old who was a passenger in another vehicle are dead after a crash late Friday night on U.S. 84 west of Louisiana 913 in Catahoula Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop E said in a press release that Fredrick Washington, 58, of Jonesville was killed when a 2018 Kia Soul driven by Viktoria Jones of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, was westbound on U.S. 84 and crossed the centerlines into the eastbound land and collided head-on with a 2011 Nissan Maxima driven by Washington.
Jones, who was not restrained, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Two juvenile passengers in the Kia, who were restrained, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
An additional juvenile — 5 years old of Latrobe — was restrained with a lap belt only and sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Washington, who was not restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.
Three juvenile passengers and one adult passenger, who were not restrained and were in Jones’ vehicle, sustained serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis, according to the press release.
