NATCHEZ – Memorial services for Billy Ray Tanner, 69, of Natchez who died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in McComb will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at First Baptist Church Natchez with Dr. Doug Broome and Rev. Jeff Brewer officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at First Baptist Church Natchez.

Mr. Tanner was born June 11, 1955, in Haynesville, LA the son of James Claude Tanner and Lela LuCity Noles Tanner.

Billy Tanner was many things to many people. He was a husband, father, friend, confidant and so much more. Billy was known for his quick wit and fun, loving attitude. And man, could he cook.

Billy was a member of First Baptist Church. He worked in the oilfield for most of his life from work over to sales. After retiring he picked up making knives. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Many can attest that his finest talent was giving and serving others.

Mr. Tanner was preceded in death by his father, James Claude Tanner; mother, Lela LuCity Tanner; brother, James Douglas Tanner; and sisters, Betty Woolwine and Glenda Bennifield.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Elizabeth Young Tanner; son, Bradley Tanner and cherished Shiva and Uma Vailia; brother, J.D. Tanner, and wife, Ruth; sister, Gloria Bonds and husband, William Bonds; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
