NATCHEZ — In a specially called meeting Wednesday, the Adams County Board of Supervisors met with Natchez Mayor Jake Middleton, EDA Chairman Woody Allen and several local bankers to discuss existing Adams County businesses.

Citing industrial and economic development, the meeting — which lasted nearly four hours — was conducted in executive session and was closed to the public.

Allen said Wednesday’s meeting was the continuation of a meeting that took place in late May, in which Allen, Middleton, three supervisors and representatives from the Mississippi Development Authority met in Jackson to discuss the local business.

Board President Henry Watts said a confidentiality agreement in place prohibits any parties involved with the matter from discussing the issue.

“It’s a confidential matter,” Watts said.

While no official action came from Wednesday’s meeting, Middleton said a follow-up meeting will likely happen next week.

Middleton said he will meet with the Natchez Board of Aldermen next week to discuss the possibility of a joint meeting with both boards to discuss the issue.

While no dates have been set for the follow-up meeting, it could be as early as Tuesday, Middleton said.

“We still have a lot to talk about,” he said.

Supervisor S.E. “Spanky” Felter was not at Wednesday’s meeting.
