NATCHEZ – On Saturday, ArtsNatchez will open its doors to showcase the works of Brenda C. Hicks and Mary Bryan Flach. This free event is open to the public from 5 to 7 p.m. and will include a giveaway of an original work by both artists.
“This event includes featured pieces by both me and Brenda Hicks followed by refreshments and a live harp performance by Mrs. Merisha Gore, “Flach said.
An accomplished, retired business executive, Flach began painting after the death of her mother in the fall of 2015. Flach is a Certified Image/Color Consultant, which has influenced her work as a published illustrator with preferred mediums in both acrylic and watercolor. Her work ranges from whimsical to folk art, to still life, too often drawing from her childhood experiences in the South.
Hicks, born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, moved to Natchez in 1984. After years spent as the office manager at Coca Cola and with the encouragement of her son, Shawn Crowe, she began painting with pastels in 2001. Since then, she has received additional instruction from artists including Impressionistic Realist Gloria Perkins of Sharpsburg, Georgia, and Wall Paint artist Douglas Walton of Louisiana. Ever since, she finds herself painting with a versatile artistic reputation, utilizing various artistic outlets, her favorite being oil painting.
ArtsNatchez is a 501(c)3 organization and features the work of over 30 local artists. ArtsNatchez works to represent many artist mediums, including photography, painting, pen and ink, mixed media, ceramics, wood carving, jewelry and much more.
