Wesley Douglas Jr. has been arrested on an aggravated assault charge in connection with the shooting that took place Friday shortly after 6 p.m. at 412 Walnut St., said Commander Jerry Ford on Sunday afternoon.

Hunter Craft and William Rouse were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds after the incident. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment. Police Chief Cal Green said shortly after the incident that it was unclear if the dog was struck by gunfire or broken glass. The status of those injured is unknown at this time.

Ford said initial investigation revealed that Craft was staying at the Walnut Street residence where he and an unidentified female witness were in an altercation. During the altercation, the female called Rouse and he came to the house and picked her up and took her to a friend’s house, Ford said. Then Rouse returned to the Walnut Street house with Douglas and an altercation ensued between Rouse and Craft.

At some point during the altercation, Ford said Douglas retrieved a gun and shot Craft.

“It’s still an ongoing investigation,” Ford said, adding additional arrests may be forthcoming.
