RIDGECREST – Funeral services for Mr. Willie Turner, 93, of Port Gibson, MS, formerly of Ferriday, LA will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11 a.m. from St. James Baptist Church in Ridgecrest, LA under the directions of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery in Vidalia, LA. Pastor Willie White and Pastor Michael White will officiate.
Mr. Turner, son of Angelo and Ida Mae Derozan Turner, was born in Vidalia and died at his daughter’s home in Port Gibson. He wore many hats during his lifetime. He trained/broke horses for hunting; worked in the oilfield as a foreman, was a great good cook, a devoted husband, father and “PawPaw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And lastly, a faithful member of St. James Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his life and legacy his children, Lillian Turner and James Anderson both of Ferriday; Idelle Washington (George) of Columbia, MS; Bobbie Nell Turner of Stone Mountain, GA; Joyce White (Michael) of Port Gibson; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren; other relatives, his church family, and many, many friends.
Mr. Willie is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maeola Turner; one son, Ed McCraney; one daughter, Gloria Turner, and his beloved horse “Polly”.
