NATCHEZ — A Sicily Island, Louisiana, woman lost her life on Sunday evening after a traffic accident on U.S. 61 in Wilkinson County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M of Brookhaven reported Monday morning that Robin McCastle, 39, of Ferriday was driving a 2013 Acura TL northbound on U.S. 61 at about 6:36 p.m. on Sunday when the Acura left the roadway and collided with a tree north of Sligo Street.

A passenger in the car, Patricia Williamson, 68, of Sicily Island, died from injuries sustained in the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No information was provided as to injuries of other people in the car.

Cpl. Craig James, public affairs officer of MHP Troop M, said the crash remains under investigation.
