NATCHEZ — The Adams County safe room will open today at 7 p.m. for severe weather projected for our area.
“We are asking everyone to be whether aware for tonight,” Emergency Management Director Robert Bradford said in a community announcement. “We can expect some down trees and power outages due to strong wind and hail so have a plan for this overnight event.”
According to the National Weather Service, Jackson office, severe storms are likely this evening beginning around 7 p.m. through tonight.
The main threat will be damaging wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour while large hail up to golf ball size will also be possible. In addition, tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
The area at greatest risk for severe storms is mainly south of Highway 82 corridor, especially in the Interstate 20 to Highway 84 corridors.
