NATCHEZ — A Natchez couple ignored road closure signs and got stuck on an underwater road in Adams County Friday evening.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said cars continue to drive on Pintail Road, off York Road in the St. Catherine Creek Wildlife Refuge.
“This is federal property. People need to know the road is underwater and unsafe to travel by vehicle. The car is still on that road, floating,” Patten said.
The couple said they got lost heading to a bar in Sibley. When they could go no further, the pair called a friend for a rescue and walked back to the top of the road to him, sheriff’s deputies said. They were not injured.
