Blooming by the River: Flowers take center stage this weekend

NATCHEZ — The beauty of flowers takes center stage in Natchez this weekend when two of the city’s most respected community groups plan flower shows and lectures from experts.

On Saturday, the Pilgrimage Garden Club hosts The Natchez Tableaux, a flower show at the city-owned historic home Auburn from 2 to 4 p.m.

The Natchez Tableaux, which is sponsored by King’s Daughters Bed and Breakfast, is from 2 to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

The highlight of The Natchez Tableaux will be a slide show presentation of 75 years of the Tableaux, with music by Kathleen Mackey King.

On Saturday and Sunday, Y’all Means All will present one of its most successful annual events, Blooming by the River.

Blooming by the River begins on Saturday with a reception beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Presentations and a silent auction are Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 400 State St.

Tickets to the Saturday reception at Choctaw Hall are $30 per attendee. It will feature cocktails and Hors d’Oeuvres.

Tickets to the Expo Presentations and Book Signing on Saturday is $50 per attendee. Those who purchase tickets to both events save $10. Tickets are available by clicking the links at yallmeansallnatchez.org.

Presenters at Blooming by the River include Felder Rushing, Susie Person, Ralph Null, Jim Del Prince, Brenda and Bethany Zerby of Moreton’s Flowerland, and Monique Renee, The Floral Anthologist.

Proceeds go to Y’all Means All Natchez’s support of mental health, suicide prevention, and awareness, and grants to youth in need of counseling and scholarships.
