VIDALIA, La. — A fatal motorcycle wreck Saturday evening in Vidalia claimed the life of a man.
Corey T. Curry Jr. from Ridgecrest, who was just shy of 22 years old, wrecked near the Town Place Suites hotel on the Vidalia Riverfront and later succumbed to injuries at Trinity Medical Center, Vidalia Police Captain Jimmy Watts said.
“He was on the riverfront at a relative’s funeral,” Watts said.
Curry left the funeral on the motorcycle and was traveling north toward the bridge, apparently at “excessive speed,” when he lost control and was ejected off of the motorcycle at approximately 6 p.m., Watts said.
The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved, he added. Curry had no motorcycle endorsement on his license.
“We (Vidalia Police Department) express our condolences to friends and family,” Watts said.
