NATCHEZ — David Mitchell, 63, of 120 Weir Court, faces aggravated assault charges after he allegedly used a tire iron to stab a man at his residence on Saturday evening.

Natchez Police Chief Cal Green said Mitchell got into an altercation with the victim and stabbed him with the tire iron twice.

The victim was airlifted to a Jackson area hospital because the Natchez hospital, Merit Health Natchez, does not have a trauma unit, Green said. She said the victim’s injuries were non-life threatening,
