NATCHEZ – Area veterans and residents will have the chance to meet and greet the new Adams County Veterans Service Officer April 6 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Miss-Lou Military Museum and Veterans Center.
Sam Minor was recently appointed by the Adams County Board of Supervisors to assist veterans and their loved ones with VA-related and service-related issues and needs.
The program will be at 107 Jefferson Davis Blvd., Natchez, which is off Sgt. S. Prentiss Drive.
“Those who come also will be able to tour the wonderful new museum which is dedicated to telling the story of the men and women who served in our armed forces,” said G. Mark LaFrancis, president of the Home With Heroes Foundation, which is sponsoring the event. “We have some incredible exhibits, free souvenirs, and a place where young folks can try on military uniforms.”
Minor is a 20-year Air Force veteran and has served around the world in various leadership positions, mostly in Asia.
“Sam is our gateway to the Veterans Administration,” LaFrancis said. “We are fortunate to have a person locally to provide that service.”
The Home With Heroes Foundation is a private nonprofit organization helping and honoring veterans and their loved ones, offering a wide variety of assistance all of which is free.
In addition, the organization operates the Military Museum and Veterans Welcome Center. For information, contact LaFrancis at 601-442-0980.
