NATCHEZ – Rose Tuccio Myers Blackwell, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on the morning of March 23, 2024, at Merit Health, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Natchez, MS, Rose, age 94, brought warmth and grace into the world, a testament to her Southern roots. She was the daughter of Samuel Tuccio and Jennie Cangemi Tuccio.

Throughout her life, Rose touched the hearts of all who knew her with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. As a devout parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Cathedral School during her formative years, her faith in God blossomed. Later in life, she found solace and community at Assumption Catholic Church, where she continued to nurture her spiritual beliefs and contribute to the church community. As a long-time member of the Ladies Altar Society at Assumption Church, Rose exemplified the true meaning of service and commitment to the church. Rose also found joy in teaching line dancing to fellow members until recently, her enthusiasm and energy leaving a lasting impression.

Rose is survived by her five children from her 49-year marriage to O. J. Myers, who passed away 26 years ago. She was later married to Roy Blackwell for 22 years until his passing in 2020.

Rose leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her surviving family members, including her five children and their spouses: son Bill and his wife, Ann, son Mike and his wife, Janice, son Randy and his wife, Myra, daughter Jennie and her husband, Johnny, and Kenny and his husband, Steve. She leaves six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her love and guidance will continue to inspire and guide them through life’s journey.

In honor of Rose’s memory, a funeral service will be held at Assumption Catholic Church at 10 Morgantown Road, Natchez. Public visitation will be on Tuesday, March 26, from 5 until 7 p.m. Her funeral will be Wednesday, March 27, at 11 a.m. Rose will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park, located at 106 Morgantown Road. During this time of mourning, the family appreciates the love and support of friends and community members. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Assumption Ladies Altar Society in Rose’s honor. Rose will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones in the embrace of the heavenly father that she so praised.
