NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Alexander W. Ellis, 83, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Friday, March 8, 2024, in Natchez, will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. at West Gate Funeral Home (George F. West, Sr. Memorial Chapel) with Pastor Mitchell Birdon officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Alexander was born March 19, 1940, in Adams County, the son of Roberta Wallace Ellis and Alexander H. Ellis. He was educated in the Natchez Public Schools and Natchez Junior College. He was a United States Army veteran. Alexander worked for decades at the International Paper Company. Mr. Ellis was a member of Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where he was a member of the Men of Zion Choir and the Sanctuary Choir. Alexander enjoyed singing, hunting, and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Ellis and Clifton Earl Ellis, and sisters, Rose Mary Davis and Delores Wade.
Alexander leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted companion, Marie; daughters, Bridget Ellis and Chelsey Ellis; brother, Lloyd P. Ellis (Angela); sister, Earvie McMillan (Therman) and other relatives and friends.
