NATCHEZ – James William Overton, 89, of Natchez, departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in Natchez. James was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Winfield, AL, the son of Arendia Benton and Joseph Clarence Overton. He was a graduate of Vigor High School and the University of Alabama. James was a Broker/Realtor with Crye*Leike Stedman Realtors and an Electrical Engineer (Management). He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mobile, AL, and Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez. He was very active in the Rotary Club, Beau Pre Golf Club, and Krewe of Phoenix, and was King of Mardi Gras in Natchez.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, watching Alabama football, and eating his granddaughter’s (Sarah) cooking.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Martha JoAnn Overton and Bethany Overton; brothers, Roy Overton and Ted Overton; grandson, Clifton Steele Partridge, and granddaughter, Cami Willard Falgout.
James leaves to cherish his memories: his loving daughter, Deborah Overton; grandchildren, Sarah Thomson (Alexandra and Christopher Copling), Shaun Thomson, Sherrie Thomson, Bisland Partridge, Peter Burns, Harrison Burns, Sarah Beth Williard; great-grandchildren, Dion, Destiny, and Gabriel Copling; sister, Betty Walker; stepchildren, Mary and George Dennis, Laura and Paul Burns, and Selah and Jim Willard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
