To everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven.
CROSBY – S.L. (Spurgeon Lafayette) Netterville, a lifelong resident of Wilkinson County, MS., passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024. He was 86.
S.L. was born on Aug. 15, 1937, in Wilkinson County to Haynes B. and Helen F. Netterville. He loved his family, and his work, and was a big football fan.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Myrtle S. Netterville; daughter, Karen Washington (Ernie); two sons, Jimmy (Denise) and Tommy (Lisa); special nephew, Daryl Smith (Lacy); grandchildren, Bryan Netterville (Erin), Jessica Callender (Kevin), Daniel Netterville (Cally), Jordan Campa, Jacob Netterville and Landon Yarborough (Madison); nine great-grandchildren, and dear friends, Butch Wheeler and Lane White.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Haynes B. and Helen F. Netterville; his brother, Haynes F. (Floyd) Netterville, and sister, Lorraine Malbty.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Hopewell Methodist Church, Hwy. 563 Crosby, MS, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Max Foreman and Rev. Reggie Forman will be officiating.
Burial services will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home of Gloster, MS. is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Bryan Netterville, Daniel Netterville, Jacob Netterville, Kevin Callender, Landon Yarborough, and Lane White.
Honorary Pallbearers are Butch Wheeler, Carnell Hamilton, Donnie Bryant, Leo Saucier, and Bubba Klar.
