NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Allean Green Bates, 82, of Natchez, who died on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at noon at the Southwood Lodge Baptist Church with Pastor Tracy Cusic officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Allean was born on April 2, 1941, the daughter of Mamie H. Green and Sanders Green, Sr. She received her high school diploma from Sadie V. Thompson, Class of 1964, and she was previously employed with the Natchez Pecan Factory. Allean was a member of the Southwood Lodge Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, reading her bible, and spending time with family, and traveling.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie F. Bates; her parents; three sisters and two brothers.

Allean leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Jerry L. Bates and A. Ray Bates; daughter, Christine Hargrave (Jimmy); brother, Richard Green; sisters, Mary Bell Taylor, Mary Lee Beamon, Shirley Green, and Ruby Ruffins; grandchildren, Jamal Bates, Jasmine Bates, Staff Sgt. Keldric Hunt, SRA Kristen Hargrave, Xadrian Bates, Aaliyah Bates, and Arianna Bates; one great-grandchild, Aubrey S. Bates; godchild, Tasha Green; and a host of other relatives and friends.
