WATERPROOF – Funeral services for Mr. Leroy King, 79, of Waterproof, LA will be held Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. from Myrtle Grove Baptist Church in Waterproof under the directions of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday, LA. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Waterproof.
Mr. King, son of Johnny and Francis Jones King, was born in Waterproof and departed this life at Trinity Medical in Ferriday. He was a retired farmer for the Goldman Family of Waterproof. He was a dedicated usher along with his wife, Mary at Myrtle Grove Church. He also served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from Jan. 25, 1965, until Feb. 5, 1968, earning an honorable discharge.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a special nephew who was raised as his own son, LaMont King (Tamu) of Austin, TX; his siblings, Charles King and JoAnna King both of Waterproof; Dorothy King of Atlanta, GA; his beloved godchildren, Jacqueline McMillan, Brenden Millan both of Waterproof; Marliyah, Arnvelous and Rebecca; grandchildren, LaDarrius and Tamia both of Austin, TX and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. And lastly, the Goldman Family of Waterproof.
Preceding his death are his parents, his wife Mary King, and siblings, Johnny King, Jr., Theodore Howard, William Howard, Bob Howard, Lula Mae Howard, and Molly King.
