Roan Geisenberger Hausmann, resident of New Orleans, who also resided briefly in Baton Rouge, LA, and Annapolis, MD following Hurricane Katrina, passed away on Jan. 14, 2024, at the age of 88. Roan was born on April 28, 1935, in Natchez to Rosalind Rubin Geisenberger and Abraham Geisenberger of Geisenberger Brothers Drug Company. She grew up in Natchez, received her M.A. from LSU, and briefly taught English before marrying and raising her children in New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gabriel Hausmann, Jr. in 2019.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Mark Gabriel (Dr. Rachel) Hausmann of Baton Rouge and Rosalind (Paul) Calvin of Annapolis, MD; grandchildren, Hannah (Philip) Ratnowsky, Nate Hausmann, Benjamin Hausmann, Jacob Hausmann, Samantha Calvin, Matthew Calvin; great-grandson, Isidore Ratnowsky; sister, Carol Lee Miller and family, and brother-in-law, Harold Victor and family.
She deeply loved and was loved by her husband and children and will be remembered for her beauty, kindness, and elegance. Unassuming as she was, her best-kept secret was the fact that, given their resemblance, she was a stand-in for Elizabeth Taylor when the movie “Raintree County” was filmed in Natchez.
