NATCHEZ – Graveside services for Barbara Jean Fletcher, 68, of Natchez who died Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, in Brookhaven will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024, at Natchez City Cemetery with Rev. Paul Southerland officiating.
Barbara Jean Fletcher was born in Jackson, MS on Oct. 13, 1955, but grew up in Natchez, MS.
She graduated from Delta State University where she made lifelong friends through the Baptist Student Union.
Barbara was a committed teacher and enjoyed impacting many students during her tenure. She loved working with her students at Adams County Christian School and also her many years at Choctaw Central.
Barbara was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She enjoyed her years in Sunday school, singing in the choir, and helping with Vacation Bible School. One of her favorite mission projects was Operation Christmas Child.
Barbara was involved in several clubs and organizations throughout the years where she made many friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime. Barbara had many talents including needlepoint, painting, and genealogy.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Barnett Eugene Fletcher and Nora Jacqueline “Jackie” Taylor Fletcher.
Barbara is survived by her brother, David Fletcher; sister-in-law, Sherry Fletcher; niece, Elizabeth Fletcher; nephew, Harrison Fletcher, and beloved cousins.
