WEATHER UPDATE: Winter storm watch upgraded to warning

Adams County, Concordia Parish and surrounding areas are now under a winter storm warning in effect from now through tonight until 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the latest update from the National Weather Service.
The winter storm watch was upgraded to a warning just before 2 p.m. Monday.
The warning includes the following counties and parishes: Madison (Louisiana), Franklin, Catahoula, Tensas, Concordia, Clay, Lowndes, Choctaw, Oktibbeha, Attaala, Winston, Noxubee, Yazoo, Madison (Mississippi), Leake, Neshoba, Warren, Hinds, Rankin, Scott, Claiborne, Copiah, Jefferson, and Adams; including the cities of Tallulah, Winnsboro, Jonesville, Harrisonburg, Newellton, St. Joseph, Waterproof, Vidalia, Ferriday, West Ferriday, West Point, Columbus, Ackerman, Weir, Starkville, Kosciusko, Louisville, Macon, Brooksville, Yazoo City, Ridgeland, Madison, Canton, Carthage, Philadelphia, Pearl River, Vicksburg, Jackson, Pearl, Brandon, Richland, Forest, Morton, Port Gibson, Crystal Springs, Hazlehurst, Wesson, Fayette, and Natchez.
A wind chill advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. Monday to noon Tuesday
For the winter storm warning, a mixture of freezing rain and sleet, ice accumulation one one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch is possible with additional light sleet accumulation.
For the wind chill advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 5 degrees below zero are possible in portions of northeast Louisiana and central, east central, northeast, southwest, and west central Mississippi.
Travel will become dangerous with dangerously low wind chills expected. There may be a few power outages.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. If going outdoors, wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
