Downtown trail needs attention

My husband and my 7-year-old son and myself walked the trails that are in front of the Grand Hotel recently.
This was the first time that we had, due to being in town for dinner and to look at the swollen Mississippi River.
We met people from all over the United States and France on our walk, and we all wondered why the City of Natchez did not clean up the garbage that littered the drainage side of the trails.
I am sure that the city has workers for such or could use the sheriff’s office prisoners to clean this up. It was a huge eyesore to the scenic trails; it was littered with beer cans, newspapers and just trash of every kind.
It gave you a feeling of not being safe due to the non-upkeep of the area. Natchez is a beautiful city, but we were taken aback by the lack of care taken on the trails.
If you like outdoors and walking, you don’t want to look at years of brush and trash piled up along side the trails. I hope this letter will prompt someone in the right office to walk the trails and experience the problem for themselves and correct it.
