NATCHEZ —Adams County Christian School junior quarterback Coleman Carter accounted for 3,765 total yards in 2023, or 68 percent of Adams County Christian School’s offensive production. He remained a steady leader for the Rebels as they won a state championship which is why he is The Natchez Democrat 2023 Offensive Player of the Year.
Carter has been a productive and dependable starter for Adams County Christian School over the past three years. The crazy thing is he still has one more year left in high school.
ACCS won their state championship with strong team play, something Carter pointed out after the title game, but he is a key piece to the team. Carter rushed for 1,250 yards, second to junior running back Adrian Walker. He scored 13 touchdowns on the ground.
In the air, Carter threw for 2,515 yards and 29 passing touchdowns. On defense, he made three tackles and two interceptions in limited playing time. Carter makes a difference no matter where he is on the field.
ACCS and Carter finally got the championship they had worked so hard for over the past few years. Fans should not be surprised if he leads the Rebels on another exciting playoff run.
Up the road in Fayette, senior quarterback Jabari Watson had an outstanding year at Jefferson County. He earned an honorable mention for Offensive Player of the Year with his 2,579 passing yards, 703 rushing yards and leading the Tigers to host their first South State Championship game.
