NATCHEZ — A Sunday evening house fire in the Broadmoor subdivision in Adams County was extinguished in roughly an hour after responders arrived.

The house at 83 E Wilderness Road sustained mostly smoke damage during a Sunday evening blaze.

Firefighters responded at approximately 6 p.m. and kept the fire contained to the back bedroom of the house, where it appears to have started.

Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said the occupant had medical issues that impair decision making and resulted in her starting the fire.

The occupant was transported to a mental health crisis center. No one was injured, Patten said.
