NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Janice McLemore Alexander, 76, of Natchez, who passed away on Jan. 2, 2024, will be held at Laird Funeral Home (Natchez, MS). Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, from 4 until 6 p.m.  Services will be held at 6 p.m. at Laird after visitation with Associate Pastor Matt Martin officiating.

Graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at Natchez National City Cemetery. Family and friends can meet at 12 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home and follow to the cemetery.

Janice was born in Tallulah, LA on May 3, 1947.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Alexander; her parents, Pascal, and Louise McLemore; her sisters, Pearl Ann Barksdale and Elise Parker; in-laws, Willie and Rita Alexander; and sister-in-law, Dena Alexander.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Alexander Rutland, and husband, Eddie Rutland; grandson, Blake Rutland; and granddaughter, Blair Rutland. She is also survived by her brother, Burlyn McLemore, and wife, Martha; brother-in-law, Woodroe Alexander, and wife, Marilyn; sister-in-law, Alexis Faust, and husband, Fred. Additional survivors are several nieces and nephews.

Janice married her high school sweetheart, Gary, in 1967 and they were married for 56 years. She loved spending time with her family. She adored her two grandchildren, Blake and Blair. She enjoyed spending time planting her flowers. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Jennifer, who in Janice’s own words “was the greatest gift she ever got”. She was the best mom any daughter could ask for.

Pallbearers will be Woodroe Alexander, Blake Rutland, Will Alexander, Trey Isbell, Less Stoltenberg, Brad Thornton, Lil Will Alexander, and Ethan Isbell.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Rutland and Fred Faust.
