NATCHEZ – Funeral services for John Nell Smith, 57, of Cannonsburg, who departed this earthly life on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, in Jackson, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at noon at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cannonsburg.

Burial will follow at the Washington Family Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

John Nell was born on July 27, 1966, in Fayette, the son of Rosie Lee Wilson Smith and Ernest Smith. He received his Associate’s Degree from Copiah–Lincoln Community College in Wesson. John Nell was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He accepted Christ at an early age in which he was a devoted Christian. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, music, and spending time with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Otis Smith and Woodrow Griffin; and sisters, Velvet Flucker, Florence McNeal, and Loretha Griffin Council Guice.

His life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife, Rossline Smith; son, Treyon Washington; daughters, JaKeitha James, Catilin Smith, and Rylei Johnnell Smith; sisters, Debbie Ann Hutchins, Flora Smith, Bobbi Lee Hollins, and Volia Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
