NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Albert “Preacher” Matthews Davis, 73, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, in Natchez will be held Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at 10 a.m. at West Gate Funeral Home (George F. West, Sr. Memorial Chapel).

Services under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Albert was born March 2, 1950, in Natchez, the son of Murray Lee Davis and Albert Matthews. He moved to New Orleans, LA at the age of 19 and worked as an A-1 longshoreman for 30 years until he retired. “Preacher” enjoyed antique shopping and Mid-South wrestling.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marshall Davis, and son, Ernest Thomas.

Albert leaves to cherish his memories:  his spouse, Paulette Thomas; two sons, Albert Thomas (Keisha) and Dwayne Thomas; daughter, Zanda Thomas (Vantrell); brother, Andrew Davis (Pearl); sisters, Mary Hawkins (David), Roberta Moore (Myron) and Georgia McQuarters (Alvin); grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, all of New Orleans, LA, and a host of other relatives and friends.
