Services for Charles R. Sanders, 84, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, in Natchez will be 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery pavilion.
Burial will immediately follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery pavilion.
Charles R. Sanders was born July 30, 1939, in Natchez to James Ellison and Reba Burt Sanders. He went to his heavenly home on December 17, 2023, at his residence.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Billy Sanders and Donald Sanders, sister Peggy Sanders Hill, nephew Jim Sanders, step-grandson Joshua Starr and step-great-grandson, Taylor Starr.
Mr. Sanders was a 1957 graduate of Natchez High School and retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber after 42 years of service. He served as a board member of ACCS from 1977-1983, was past president of the ACCS booster club, coached t-ball and little league baseball, was Colonel on the staff of Gov. Cliff Finch, was an avid hunter, past president of Triangle Hunting Club and he was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.
On July 2, 1994, he married the love of his life, Barbara G. Sanders, and together they enjoyed many travels. He was the most enthusiastic Ole Miss and New York Yankees fan and the two of them traveled many times to see the Yankees play ball in New York, Texas and Washington, D.C.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife, Barbara, his sons, David (Jeanne) and their sons, Robert Sanders of Vicksburg and Chris (Ronni) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Jeff and his children, Sarah and A.J. of Slidell, Louisiana, his brother, Jim Sanders of Natchez, sister-in-law, Martha Sanders of Cullman, Alabama, many nieces and nephews, six step-children, 9 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
The family sends love, prayers and gratitude to Deaconess Hospice, especially Robin, Jessica, Simone and Debbie, for the wonderful care they provided. This would have been impossible without their assistance.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Gee, Al Guillot, Loney Bell, Pete Robicheaux, Jeff Robicheaux, and Benjie Sanders.
Honorary pallbearers will be L.C. Murray, Jerry Krause, Buddy McNeil and Bobby Seydell.
