NATCHEZ — More than 800 attendees are expected to be in town from Dec. 6 to 9 for the Mississippi Bandmasters Association Annual Band Clinic.
Lyn Jenkins, president and CEO of the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce, upwards of 1,200 are expected to be in town that Saturday for its final concerts.
“They are on their own for most meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner. They will also be out and about downtown a good bit for shopping and sightseeing,” Jenkins said.
The band directors usually total around 520 and students will number about 300, she said.
Participants in the conference will begin arriving on Dec. 5 and the Grand Finale Concert, the last event of the conference, begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9.
“This is our largest conference of the year and we are thrilled that they continue to choose Natchez as their city of choice for this clinic,” Jenkins said.
Jenkins has welcome signs available and encourages any retailer, lodging or restaurant business to display them as a welcome to those attending.
