FAYETTE – Funeral services for John Arthur “Mule” Stacker, 62, of Lorman, who departed this earthly life on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, in Fayette, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Jefferson County High School Auditorium with Rev. Dr. Elvis E. Colenberg officiating.

Burial will follow at the Hickory Block United Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home – Fayette branch.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the Fayette branch and will continue on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the auditorium.

John Arthur Stacker, affectionately known as Mule, was born on July 21, 1961, in Lincoln County, the son of Nellie McNair Stacker and Artillious Stacker.

He was a Jefferson County High School Graduate, Class of 1979. He began working at the Jefferson County School District in 1989 as a Bus Driver and Cafeteria Worker until his retirement in 2015. John also worked at Rollins Funeral Home for over 15 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed shooting pool, cooking, traveling, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and joking with anyone he could. He was the “life of the party.”

He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Chalmus and Alberta McNair; paternal grandparents, Flora and Johnny McNair; several aunts and uncles, sisters, Lucille Smith and Barbara O’Quinn; nephews, Terry “Pero” Tenner and C. J. McNair; brother-in-law, Bobby N. Lacey; and a sister-in-law, Valerie McNair.

John Arthur leaves to cherish his memories; his loving daughters, Kawana Smith and Johnaleka Stacker; son, Antoine Tenner; his mother, Nellie McNair Stacker; grandchildren, Chase Thompson and A’Riyah Parker; five sisters, Jennifer Tenner (Terry), Marilyn Stacker, Bridget Lacey, Janice McNair and Cynthia Burnett; five brothers, Troy Stacker (Frances), Melvin McNair, Marvin Stacker, and Kirt Stacker; special brother, Kenneth W. Johnson; 27 nieces and nephews; a companion for 26 years, Christine Dixon; and a host of other family members and friends.
